The Lib Dem plan for A Greener Wetherby

by Wetherby Liberal Democrats on 10 March, 2019

David Hopps has invited local Green campaigners to support Lib Dem plans

The Wetherby Liberal Democrats plan to make Wetherby greener.

Support Lib Dem candidate David Hopps in the Leeds City Council elections on May 2 and join our campaign to begin to make this happen:

  • Work with shops to reduce reliance on single-use plastic and disposable cups.
  • Promote free tap water using the Find Your Fill campaign at Refill.org.uk and investigate¬†drinking fountains in Wetherby and Boston Spa
  • Protect our most cherished open spaces from development
  • Support safe neighbourhoods for cycling and walking
  • Fight to keep our footpaths open and in good condition
  • Support Wetherby market, local shops and allotments
  • Introduce door-to-door glass collection and food waste disposal across Leeds
  • Reverse Leeds Labour’s charges for bulky waste collection and so reduce fly tipping.
  • Reduce plastic pollution in the River Wharfe
  • Work with In Bloom groups and other local volunteers to introduce bee-friendly, pesticide free areas across the Wetherby ward
  • Introduce more bike racks – and investigate charging points for e bikes
  • Encourage electric charging points across the ward so Wetherby and Boston Spa encourage electric vehicles.
  • Invite representatives of the Green Party to help us achieve our objectives
